At 7pm we will leave Isfryn and travel to our first of three haunted destinations - Ruthin Castle.

The castle is now a hotel but the ruins of the original building were incorporated in the building of the large mansion. The castle was inhabited by the armies of Edward 1 and the ‘Grey Lady’ who haunts the castle now was the wife a commanding officer at that time. She committed murder after discovering her husband had betrayed her, killing his lover. She is said to wander the battlements and the banqueting hall, which was once the castle chapel.

We will then make our way to the spooky site of Plas Teg.

Plas Teg
This is arguably the most famous haunted house in North Wales .

The 17 th century manor house is haunted by a young girl who drowned there in a well. However, the road that runs past it is reportedly even more haunted. Many drivers passing by have slammed on their brakes convinced they have run some one over but no injured person or body is ever found.  For tonight’s final haunting experience we will visit the grand Bodelwyddan Castle.

The building dates back to 1460 however it became a castle in the 1830’s. During its alterations to become the castle, works took place in the 1820’s and at this time human bones were found near one of the chimneys. Apparently the bones are still there today. The castle has been home to many characters over the centuries and has also been used as an officer’s mess and recuperation centre for those officers during the Great War. Many of the rooms in the castle have reportedly had spooky  ightings including a Victorian lady, a shadowy figure, a little girl and ‘ the cellar man’.

The North Wales lunatic asylum was built between 1844 and 1848. It housed 1,500 patients until it closed in 2002.The popular television programme ‘ Most Haunted Live’ have broad cast their programme from here trying prove paranormal activity and its reputation as being haunted. The stories and reports of the witches and ghostly happenings have been told for many years. The building is now dilapidated and has a very eerie appearance however inside ‘Bella’ the witch and the ghost of ‘John Rowlands’ are said to roam around the isolation chambers, cold windy corridors and roofless hospital wings.

The prominent tower of Denbigh Castle sits proudly on a hill in this town surrounded by the castle ruins and battlements. Paranormal investigators have held vigils here and have not been disappointed with their findings. Local people have also reported ghostly sightings and experiences at the castle. Shadowy sightings, cold  spots and feelings of dread are a few of the experiences recorded. It is said the you can hear the ghostly cries of a mother coming from the well grieving for her young  child who slipped out of her arms and to its death at the bottom of the well whilst she was collecting water.

For our final visit of the tour we go to the murderous home of a lady known as the ‘Mother of Wales’ .

Berain House, Llannefydd (aka Gwydir Castle)

This mansion house was once the home of Catrin Tudur, cousin of Queen Elizabeth 1. Catrin haunts this house which is now a large farm and sits in a hollow between the villages of Llannefydddand Henllan.

According to local legend she married seven times and murdered all seven of her husbands for their money.  Along with the ghost of Catrin the house is also said to be haunted by her seven angry husbands. However,  historians would disagree writing of only four husbands and stating that the tall stories of her gruesome murders remain unsubstantiated.

We now return to Isfryn for your last night’s stay – sleep well and don’t have nightmares!
